Happy Memorial Day everybody, today we celebrate a couple of true American heroes. Old Bill Moseley aka ChopToppers and Mr. Buckethead. Two men that have boldly gone where no one in their right mind ever would or should go...the ol hook and ladder gang are at it again suckin' eggs and suckin' air...dancin' and dancin'...yeah I got you in my heart too Bill.

RetroSatan - Grito Mortal
Out of this world old-school Argentinian speed metal from '87. Occult atmosphere absolutely pours out of this release...just listen to the trak Esperando El Final...specifically the break at 2:30 in will make you shudder. Love it.
PS if anyone has the full rip of this album let me know, cuz I could only find about half the trax from it.

Graf Spee - Reincarnation
Damn this blog is right at 100,000 views, so I'm gonna celebrate with some incredibly malicious, shredding proto-black metal from Uruguay circa 1989!! Put this one right up there with Parabellum or Hadez or Reencaracion. This ain't some Venom Hellhammer worship, this is from some otherrelm where shredding and overall craziness reign supreme. Underground, dangerous, '80's and South American....quite a dangerous proposition. Includes the Mother Fucker ep, so there ya go.

Troller - s/t
Striking, alluring? (maybe just alil' bit) cover art--amazing tunes. Can't stop listening to this. Is it witch-house? Well if shit like Salem is then this certainly ain't. Synth-wave, darkwave...The Cure meets Fever Ray in a twilit grotto. Found out about this crazy group from the wonderful MondoNation blog, and go ahead and like their bandcamp page, that way this amazing cover artwork can show up on your facebook timeline and your old high school art teacher can like that you like it!

Scanxion - Demos 90-94
An obscure British trash band from the early 90's, this is one of those bands that are seemingly made for me. Phat techy riffs that will get you groovin' and on top of that a pitch perfect vocalist whose got a little punk bite to his snarl, sounding sort of like Bad Religion's Greg Graffin. This is a winning combination friends...pair this with that Psychopath I posted a couple days ago and you'll be set.

Psychopath - 5-Song Advance
Thanks to a fellow Psychopath maniac I now have in my greedy little digital palms the rarest of the rare...the 5 song Psychopath advance demo recorded one year after their monumental (and only) full-length, Making The Transition. As high as I hold MTT, I have to say that this is better...more fully realized songs, biting guitar tone, and an atmosphere that unparallels it from nearly any other thrash band that has ever lived!! The genius that was everpresent on MTT is only ramped up and refined...taking the progdeath and cyber-swagger of latter Death circa Symbolic and Voivod circa Negatron (weird since this recording precedes both those albums) and distilling them into an urban mindmeld all their own. The guitars are somehow both punishing and ambient allowing for passages that explore a sense of spatial emotion that is SOOOooo left-field of typical death/thrash that I can't help but get a wicked smile on my face while I'm listening. Be it the Ved Buens Ende-esque sweeping dissonance of "Mother To The Silhouettes" or the syncopated-ride thrash double breaks of the outstanding "Counterparts", I am flat out blown away.
This Promo tape has quickly secured a special place in my personal thrash pantheon, sitting proudly alongside fellow progressive worldbeaters' Voivod, Iceburn, Prong, Depressive Age, and fellow St. Louisans Anacrusis. ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL!!!!!!!!
