Paraxism

An absolutely incredible Finnish death metal band that is as unique as they are underrated...if they're rated at all! This blog would be a worthwhile endeavor if for nothing else than introducing Paraxism to eager young ears...link for everything I got Demo #1, Promo '97, Selected Works and Xism Excursion.

Caïman Nain - Cassette

from google translate:

where c is pavel (Death to pigs, Race, gel etc. ..) alone that make the super grind nag fun four  tracks c is the rééditon of a cassette output to  a dozen copies c is crazy to be as straight forward  so as ligther

Forest Swords - Engravings

Drone-step, Glorious Drone-step. Forest Swords aka Matthew Barnes scrapes it down to the bare necessities and is all the better for doing so. F'ing masterpiece. As comfortable at a ravedown or with any and all the forest people...or perhaps here? Minus that rubbish music of course.

Psychologically Trancing

Lamp of the Universe

heady

Pinnacle - Cyborg Assassin

British proto-metal psyche bastards....totally off the chain for '74.

Dwarr - Starting Over

Speaking of The Mezmerist's drug-addled Black Sabbath worship, how about Dwarr's debut from '85? Parts of this sound like Planet Caravan...parts sound like The Flying Luttenbachers...the ultimate WTF album.

Starting Over

Graal - Sigullum Naturae

Slovenian Beefheart Pychedelic Death Metal Cabaret...this is amazing.

Sigullum Naturae

Shudder To Think - Ten Spot

A winning combination of Voivod's Outer Limits and Angel Rat....'nuff said.

Ten Spot

Troller - s/t

Striking, alluring? (maybe just alil' bit) cover art--amazing tunes. Can't stop listening to this. Is it witch-house? Well if shit like Salem is then this certainly ain't. Synth-wave, darkwave...The Cure meets Fever Ray in a twilit grotto. Found out about this crazy group from the wonderful MondoNation blog, and go ahead and like their bandcamp page, that way this amazing cover artwork can show up on your facebook timeline and your old high school art teacher can like that you like it!

Bandcamp

UzJD on WFMU

Live Uz Jsme Doma...the best of Czech! Since when did Miroslav turn into the blonde Gallagher?...and speaking of Gallagher, any updates on that melon crackin' son of a bitch?

Endura - Black Eden

One of the darkest albums I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. I can remember quite a few nights of getting baked in my Civic and listening to "When God Becomes A Snake"...try it, you'll like it!!

Black Eden

Shinjuku Thief - The Witch Haven

Bombastic ambiance that borders on martial industrial at times, but retains just enough of the drone influence to keep everybody happy. I've been cranking this when I've been doing P90X...strangely good workout musick.

The Witch Haven

Detritivore - Pakt

Unique Norwegian forest drone noize with epic metal influences. Listen to this late at night when you're out of your mind and in a strange way.

Pakt

Light Shall Prevail - Unearthen Hymns Of Revolt

Another EEE freakout releaase, much more classic black metal than Agathothodion, but don't fret cuz there's still plenty of moanin' and dronin' goin' down on this one I promise.

Unearthen Hymns Of Revolt

Agathothodion - Traum von Gott

From EEE Recordings...this label has released some classics in the niche of christian black metal. Listening to Traum Von Gott begs the question...Why is christian metal so droney? Are the musicians imitating the nascent buzz of the preacher during all those early morning services? Maybe they just indulged a bit too often in the sacramental wine. Maybe it's just a big fucking joke. Whatever the case, I think those moaned vocals sound pretty darn cool.

Traum Von Gott

Vermonster - Spirit of Yma

Fuck me I like this smess, I really do! So crazy that it's working.

Spirit of Yma

Re123+ - Magi

New Belarusian unknowns with quite the perplexing moniker. The bar for drone/doom has just been raised a few notches...fantastic stuff!! Read a nice interview with these folks.

Magi

Beherit - Electric Doom Synthesis

Nuclear Holocausto Vengeance's second stab at dark ambient (after the somewhat forgettable and unpronounceable H418ov21.C), and what an improvement! Somehow Mr. Vengeance managed to incorporate that lunar black metal feel from Drawing Down The Moon with dance beats and trip hop and form them into songs (and I do mean fully differentiated songs) that are, for the most part, totally outside of the black metal genre. AND this came out in 1995! Definitely ahead of it's time and an album that I think has aged particularly well.

Magma - Udu Wudu

My fav Magma release featuring one of the greatest songs of all time....behold the Zeuhls of grandeur!!

Udu Wudu

Xynfonica - A Feast For Famished Ravens

Tardcore has been ramped up a notch brothers and sisters. Improvised guitar-synths, after hours jazz and creepy growled intonations. Put out by the always solid Hekaloth. Handle with cares.

A SLoppy Feast
