Bloodslaughter - Cannibalistic Massacre

German perversion of the nastiest persuasion, rude, crude and fucking brutal for 1987.

Night Troll - Dimension Gateway

Trolling Night Metal..Inept, captivating, brilliant outsider music..like Ildjarn without all of that atmosphere bullshit. Is it just me or is this the ghost of Frank Zappa doing black metal?! It might just be me.

Detritivore - Pakt

Unique Norwegian forest drone noize with epic metal influences. Listen to this late at night when you're out of your mind and in a strange way.

Xynfonica - A Feast For Famished Ravens

Tardcore has been ramped up a notch brothers and sisters. Improvised guitar-synths, after hours jazz and creepy growled intonations. Put out by the always solid Hekaloth. Handle with cares.

Za Frumi - Za Shum Ushatar Uglakh

Ha haha this band is crazy! You think Summoning is obsessed with LOTR, this band takes it to a whole nother level! The vocalizations are a highlight as it's all in orcish complete with wildass orc intonations. Hilarious, mesmerizing and delightful!

The Skull Defekts - The Drone Drug

Drone Drug's sound is about as welcome as a kick to the groin, and it succeeds on that very fact alone. ENJOOOOY!!!

Ash Ra Tempel - Seven Up

Soundtrack to an LSD trip, featuring the cruise director himself Dr. Timothy Leary.

Godzilla - II

Another Metal Enterprises release...maybe even more insane than Killer Fox, but surprisingly listenable, go figure. Still, it's just not very good except for a laugh...and even then your better off with that Red Foxx album I posted a while back (ol' Red is a "Killer" Foxx after all, hehehe).

Undor - s/t

Czech out this insane German black "metal". Very much in the vein of the last RALF Projekt (vox-wise at least).

Incubator - Symphonies Of Spiritual Cannibalism

The return of this slimy slithering Grungy German death metal entity. A bit more streamlined than McGillroy, but still just as weird and fucked.

Circling Round Finland

I don't know what it is about Finland, but they must have more excellent musicians per capita than anywhere else on this green Earth...for a nation that has a population of a shade over 5 million (for comparison, NYC alone is a bit over 8 million) to have so many cool, unique bands is just an embarrassment of riches...
If you don't know Circle, they are the vanguard of NWOFHM (like NWOBHM, but you can take a guess what the F is for), which is really just spacy krautrock with heavy metal lyrics...absurd heavy metal lyrics at that...Infektio is a lot more spacy than most of their stuff that I've listened too, and it is truly excellent. Great mood music to put on when you read your old Heavy Metals...Circle Of Ouroborus just keep getting better and better, further pushing their sound into an ambient direction...the guitar tone on Eleven Fingers is sooo pleasing, I find it especially nice to listen to in the early morning when I'm walking into work...it's meditative qualities prepare me for the day.
So there you go...2 great albums from 2 excellent bands...Finland I salute you!!

Lunatic Invasion - Totentanz

Some more of that peculiar brand of German grunge death that everybody + their mom's been diggin' on...Equal parts Incubator weirdo-doom, Vaccuum atmospheric-death and Desalin idio-tech thrash. How's that for some obscure references??

Siren - The Calling...

Posted this one a while back, but it deserves special mention once again. Stumbling, bumbling doomy black metal that sounds like a collection of Countess B-sides. If that description doesn't make you hit the link immediately, then I'm afraid you have good taste and virtue and there is absolutely no hope for you. What's your stalling...er, I mean calling?

Fermenting Innards - Myst

Gotta love black metal bands that retain their death metal names even after they switch sides. Maniac Butcher, Dissection, Entrails...I'm probably forgetting some other good ones. Melodic/dissonant German Black Metal definitely worth a time or two.

Winterblut - Grund Gelenkkunst

So, keeping true to my word, I am delving ass deep into the insidious world of German Black metal...and without further ado, ladies and gentlemen...Winterblut's Grund.
A monumental statement put out by ol L'Hiver almost a decade ago. If the Jesus Lizards ever recorded a black metal album, this would be it my friends...grungy, mathy evilness that grooves on that enviable tin-pan alley swag. Just love that he put a cheering crowd at the end of the album...fucking brilliant!

Symbiontic - Vaya

Kind of a nice German surprise right here, tech-death with some proggy-folk twists, sounding like Anata's The Conductor's Departure mixed with Bo Hansson!! Definitely unusual and pretty darn good.
